Hot Mess - The Mind
Cody Burt
Matt started his message off by talking about how busy we are and I couldn’t agree more! Like Matt, I’m the type that can’t sit idle for too long. If you ever see me physically taking a break my mind is still at max throttle.
The busyness of life is a direct attack by the enemy. Satan has put so much in front of us that we can’t see the forest for the trees. This busyness can lead to conformity to the world.
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2).
So how do we renew our minds? Put truth in there and let truth do the work. Ultimately, it is God’s word that transforms us (1 Thessalonians 2:13). Matt challenged us to spend some time in Ephesians this week which is a great book to dwell on.
The more you dwell on the truth, the more truth renews your mind.
Have you ever had fresh, homemade biscuits? Usually, the bottom is cooked a little too much and the top and sides aren’t too far behind, but the center is cooked just right! It’s the best part of a biscuit to me. Ephesians is like the center of a biscuit. It’s one of the best books to find out who you are in Christ.
Did you know you have been blessed with all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3)? Did you know we have been redeemed and forgiven of our sins (Ephesians 1:7)? Did you know God has made His will known to us (Ephesians 1:9)? Did you know that you have been sealed with the Spirit (Ephesians 1:13)?
Did you notice that I haven’t got out of the first chapter of Ephesians? I also challenge you to spend time in Ephesians this week…and the next…and the next!
The more you dwell on the truth, the more truth renews your mind. You will still be busy, but you are able to approach your busy life with the proper perspective.
