Hot Mess - The World

Chris Williams

This week Pastor Matt talked about how we can live in this world and still be content and have peace with all that goes on.

Being in the construction trade, I relate a lot of things to that. Having this peace is like building a house. In order to have a sturdy house, you need a solid foundation. We can have that solid foundation and still waste it if we don’t use the right anchors and fasteners to keep the house joined to the foundation. These anchors keep our house stable, making it strong enough to keep the wind from knocking it off its foundation.

Here’s how Paul explains it in Romans 5:1-5:
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

As believers, we have peace with God through Christ, our foundation. We can build our house of peace and rest when we are anchored to our foundation through the power of the Holy Spirit. We were given the Holy Spirit to make our house stand strong when the winds (tribulations) come.

These anchors keep our house stable, making it strong enough to keep the wind from knocking it off its foundation.

Being in the construction trade, I relate a lot of things to that. Having this peace is like building a house. In order to have a sturdy house, you need a with others as well, it is a game-changer.
